Creative Schools is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme to enable the creative potential of every child. Creative Schools is led by the Arts Council in partnership with the Department of Education and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
This initiative provides opportunities for children and young people to build their artistic and creative skills; to communicate, collaborate, stimulate their imaginations, be inventive, and to harness their curiosity.
Thanks to the efforts of our Art Teacher Ms Curran, St Mary’s has been awarded a Creative School’s grant. As part of the programme, which began in 2024/2025, we will take part in a two-year guided journey to develop a Creative Schools Plan, and to put it into action. Our students’ involvement in planning, decision-making and reflection is central to the journey.
As part of the programme, we have been assigned a Creative Associate who is working with us to guide us through our Creative Schools journey and have received a €4000 grant towards activities arising from our Creative Schools Plan.
