Wellbeing - Ongoing in St Mary's:

  • The Check & Connect Programme supports 6th-year students, providing mentorship and academic guidance (Alignment: Wellbeing and Inclusion).
  • A broad range of extracurricular sports and activities encourages student engagement, including:
    • Sports Day, Creative Schools Day, Culture Day
    • Computer Club, Craft Club, Book Club, French Club (Alignment: Wellbeing and Inclusion, Learner Experiences).
  • The school has a comprehensive commendation and merit structure to recognize student achievements, including:
    • Mary Aikenhead Day, Awards Day, Sports Day, and the Friday Newsletter (Alignment: Learner Outcomes, School Culture).
  • Strong pastoral care and student support systems, including:
    • Guidance, Counselling, Year Head and Form Teacher support structures (Alignment: Wellbeing and Inclusion, Leadership and Management).
  • A Social Skills Committee to help students with social and emotional needs (Alignment: Wellbeing and Inclusion).

Focus for 2024/2025:

  • Continue the Check & Connect Programme for 6th years (Alignment: Wellbeing and Inclusion).
  • Increase student participation in Themed Weeks and Days (e.g., Sports Day, Creative Schools Day, Culture Day) (Alignment: Wellbeing and Inclusion, Learner Experiences).
  • Increase Wellbeing Wednesday participation from 33% (2024) to 60% (2025) through targeted initiatives (Alignment: Wellbeing and Inclusion).
